Guinea - Congo DR Live Ticker
minute by minute: this has been the live ticker coverage
|
Jan 25 1300 GMT Guinea- DR Congo 2:1 (final) 1st half:
- the fast Congolese attackers beat the Guzinean
defenders on counter attacks. After a big chance is wasted by a shot
narrowly wide, the Congolese score through Ekakanga after 35 minutes
2nd half:
- Guinea defenders continue to have difficulties
with the fast Congolese attackers. Congo control the match and the
match is played in the Guinean half
- ('52) a neat free kick trick, but the eventual shot goeas wide
- ('55) the Guinean keeper has to rescue after a cross from the right almost finds an unmarked striker
- ('59) Guinea: a long cross almost finds Titi Camera but the Congolese keeper wins the close chase for the ball
- ('60) The Congolese pass the ball around in the Guinean penalty area
although almost all Guinean players are defending. They can't find a
free way to the goal and finally the keeper grabs the ball
- ('62) the Congolese obviously have well practised free kicks in the
preperation camp. But this time they can't get through with their idea
- ('64) it would have been the goal of the tournament (at least so
far): Guinea have a 3:3 situation on counter attack and Feindouno beats
the keeper with a perfect chip from the edge of the penalty. But the
ball hits the crossbar and falls down inches before the line
- a very lively match now with an attacking Congolese side give Guinea much space for counter attacks despite leading
-('67) ... and pay the price when Guinea break through
on the left, the ball is passed back to the edge of the penalty area,
central to the goal, where Titi Camera is unmarked and has no problems
to score - 1:1
-('70-'80) Guinea dominate the match and have a number of half chances
-('80) Guinea break through on the left again, #7 with
another pass back to the edge of the penalty area, this time it is #11
who gives the ball a nice shove, it hits the cross bar and the rebound
falls on the head of Feindouno, on the edge of being offside, he scores
- 2:1
-the
Congolese who looked so strong at the beginning of the half seem
helpless, both teams have their professiional base at europe, it can't
be physical(?)
-('85)
a game of breakthroughs: Youla runs towards the goal from half left
with only the keeper to beat, but the Congolese can close down the
angle and the ball bounces off his body back into the field
-('88) and again the quick Guineans beat the Congolese defense, Youla
just comes up a little short to tab in the cross, he can deflect it but
it rolls wide
-('90) defensive blunders on both sides remain without huge consequences
-('90+4) a last chance for Congo through a free kick from the right hand side: the cross is grabbed by the keeper
final score 2:1
A festival for the quick attackers on both sides. Both teams displayed
strengths and weaknesses. Congo now will probably have to beat hosts
Tunisia to keep their hopes alive.
